He Leads Me

Many mornings I wake up with a hymn rolling around in my mind.  I often wonder if it's God's help and encouragement for me for the day.  This was the hymn this morning.

He leadeth me, O blessèd thought!
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught!
Whate’er I do, where’er I be
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.

Refrain
He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful follower I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.

Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,
Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,
By waters still, over troubled sea,
Still ’tis His hand that leadeth me.

Refrain

Lord, I would place my hand in Thine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since ’tis my God that leadeth me.

Refrain

And when my task on earth is done,
When by Thy grace the vict’ry’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
Since God through Jordan leadeth me.

Refrain

The line, "Content, whatever lot I see,"  reminds me of a quote by Mathew Henery that I have framed and on a shelf in my home.  It reads:

"If God does not by His providence give us what we desire, yet, if by His grace He makes us content without it, it comes to the same."

There have been many times I have not received the things that I have desired in this life - good things, but when you put your trust in the Lord you are able to be content whatever lot you see.   It's all about Him and  glorifying Him anyway! :)

Hi Mindy! It was great to meet you and your family at church here in N. Kentucky! I hope the rest of your trip went well and the kid's enjoyed the 'big city'! Blessings on your week!
