He leadeth me, O blessèd thought!
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught!
Whate’er I do, where’er I be
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.
Refrain
He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful follower I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful follower I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.
Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,
By waters still, over troubled sea,
Still ’tis His hand that leadeth me.
Refrain
Lord, I would place my hand in Thine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since ’tis my God that leadeth me.
Refrain
When by Thy grace the vict’ry’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
Since God through Jordan leadeth me.
Refrain
The line, "Content, whatever lot I see," reminds me of a quote by Mathew Henery that I have framed and on a shelf in my home. It reads:
"If God does not by His providence give us what we desire, yet, if by His grace He makes us content without it, it comes to the same."
There have been many times I have not received the things that I have desired in this life - good things, but when you put your trust in the Lord you are able to be content whatever lot you see. It's all about Him and glorifying Him anyway! :)
